As you can guess, I’m Danny Tomalin a filmmaker, photographer, web and graphic designer. I grew up in a family that was always getting new technology and at a very young age was given the use of the house computer. I think thats what gave me the passion for technology because my parents let me use it, they never told me not to explore around, even when I broke the computer, I was always aloud on it.
When I was in school we had to pick our career for the future and i was looking through careers book in the office and cameacross “multimedia designer”. I though hmmm. I like using computer and drawing software but my knowledge didnt reallygo further than MS Paint. I continued wanting to be a multimedia designer even with the little knowledge I had.
From here I left school and forgot all about wanting to be a multimedia designer. Not knowing what I wanted to do, but knowing I had to go to college, my parent suggested as I do photography because they had notice that i could frame shot and could just do it. I decide to add Film Studies and Media Studies along side photography, these were the 3 A Levels I decided to do and passed.
From here I left college and started working for a company got “Lippy Films” here is where I began to grow as a professional and a person. From here I decided to apply to join the course HND Interactive Media, my reason for this is that I could make films and take picture but I had no way in distributing them online apart from on flickr, facebook and any other social networking site. I wanted a website so they were all in the same place. This course would give me that skill needed to do everything that I want to do.
I think it was about half way through the first year of my course and I was walking across the fields to get to work and i thought to myself I’ve somehow ended up been a Multimedia Designer – something that I wanted to do when i was 14. I was so pleased, however still had little experience I was only 17 at the time.
Now I’m 21 and have been working for LIppy Films , Lippy People and LPY Media for about to 3 years now and am producing work to a high standard. I am alway willing to take in projects from Commercial companies, Small Businesses anyone really.
